The Mid-Michigan Shape Note singing group was formed in 2005 by Bart Casad, Anne Missavage, and Bob Borcherding, initially we met at Grace Lutheran Church, where Candy and Larry Farmer were members. We were supported and joined in our singings by singers from Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo. Unfortunately, Bart Casad moved away soon after we started singing.

Tom Malone came to East Lansing in the summer of 2005 and helped propel the group forward. In 2006 we started meeting in our homes, in 2008 we moved to the Green River Cafe, which closed not to long afterward, then we started meeting at David Stowe's church, Edgewood United Church in East Lansing, where we have been since 2009, at which time Tom Malone completed his doctorate and moved away.
